Day 2

Exploring Cape Town and Table Mountain

Spend the day touring Cape Town and iconic Table Mountain. Your tour is with a private guide and at your own pace picking out the attractions which interest you. Typically highlights include, the Houses of Parliament, the Castle (built between 1666 and 1679, this is South Africa’s oldest building), the lively Green Market Square with its daily market, the Company Gardens and of course Table Mountain which will give you spectacular views over the city and Peninsula (depending on the weather). On the descent, you can stop at the Bo Kaap, traditionally home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses. Note that this tour can be done in the morning or the afternoon – the choice is yours.

Day 3

Private Full Day Best of Cape Peninsula

Experience the best of the Cape Peninsula on this full-day excursion. You visit Cape Point Nature Reserve, stroll along the walkways at the Boulders African Penguin Colony and breathe the fragrant air in the stunning Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. On this tour, you’ll explore the majestic coastline that early sea farers initially dubbed the Cape of Storms, before it became known as the Cape of Good Hope. Follow the winding coastal road along the Twelve Apostles with its sheltered coves and breathtaking sea views, until you reach the furthermost outcrop.

Along the way to the southwestern most tip of Africa, you’ll pass Hout Bay, a historic fishing fishing village before heading over Chapman’s Peak to Cape Point Nature Reserve where you’ll stop at the lighthouse. Here two ocean currents collide to showcase rich marine life, and on land, you’ll discover unique fauna and flora. Next, you’ll pass the quaint towns of Simon’s Town, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg on the False Bay coastline. Then you’ll head towards the Constantia region where the South African wine industry started, and at the eastern foot of Table Mountain you find Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day Notes

Day 4

Private Full Day Best of Cape Peninsula

Spend the day exploring the picturesque Winelands region with its beautiful wine farms, quaint historical towns and wine-covered hills. It’s also home to some of South Africa’s leading restaurants and boutiques. The region is ideally suited to wine production and many of the wines produced here have won international awards. Typically the regions explored are Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, but this depends on your wine tastes. Your guide will structure the tour to suit your palate and interests.

On a usual tour, the first stop is Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues, and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Next head over the scenic Helshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago. It’s lovely setting and café lined streets will charm you and afford the opportunity to do some shopping too.

Eastern Hwange National Park

DAY 5 - 8

Located in western Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in the country and is famous for its rich diversity of wildlife. Home to one of the biggest elephant populations in the world, as well as around 100 mammal species, the park is a wonderland for animal lovers.

Several protected animals inhabit the awe-inspiring open landscapes, including the endangered wild dog, critically endangered black rhino, and rare roan and sable – along with lion, cheetah, and around 500 bird species. Adventurers can look forward to guided bush hikes, game drives, and horse riding safaris, all of which offer excellent photographic opportunities. Hwange boasts several unique natural features, most notably the natural seeps such as Nehimba and Shakwanki animals dig for water.
